Visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday called for a comprehensive solution to the Middle East problem with the participation of all parties, the official SANA news agency reported.

Lavrov told reporters upon his arrival that he would discuss with the Syrian officials "means of building a comprehensive solution" which he said would bring peace to the region.

He said that the aim of his trip here "is to bolster the Syrian- Russian relations in a bigger way."

Lavrov just wrapped up a brief visit to Lebanese capital of Beirut where he discussed with the Lebanese leadership the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Shiite group Hezbollah that went into effect in Lebanon on Aug. 14 and Russia's participation in reconstruction efforts.
