font size

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo arrived here on Friday for a stopover on his way home after concluding a three-nation Latin American tour.

He was received at the airport on Gran Canaria, one of the seven major islands among the Canary Islands, by Spanish government delegate Jose Segura and the Chinese Ambassador to Spain Qiu Xiaoqi.

During his stay on the island, Wu was scheduled to meet Segura and the head of the Autonomous Regional government of the Canary islands.

Wu met with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on Thursday before leaving Santiago, capital of Chile, the last leg of his 13-day visit.

He was scheduled to return home on Sunday morning.
