Romania's position regarding the existence of CIA detention centers remains unchanged, said government spokesperson Oana Marinescu on Friday.
The Bucharest authorities denied several times the existence of CIA prisons on Romanian territory and stressed that the investigations carried out by the European officials came with no clear evidence to support the accusations brought.
Allegations that CIA agents shipped prisoners through European airports to secret detention centers, including compounds in Eastern Europe, were first reported in November by The Washington Post. The Association Human Rights later identified air bases in Poland and Romania as possible locations of the alleged secret prisons.
