Fireworks plant blast kills two in north India

Two people were killed in a blast at a fireworks plant in north India's Uttar Pradesh early Saturday, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

Fireworks manufacturer Sarju Prasad and his wife died when his plant exploded at a Rae Bareli village, about 160 km from the state capital Lucknow.

The blast happened because of the negligence of Prasad, Rae Bareli district magistrate Jitendra Kumar said.

The house was reduced to ashes because of the blast, he said.
