U.S. President George W. Bush met here with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Wednesday, pledging support for the security of Israel, the White House said.
During his 45-minute meeting with Livni, Bush "reiterated his strong support for the security of the state of Israel and sent warm personal regards to (Israeli) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert," U. S. national security spokesman Frederick Jones said.
Bush also "discussed the threats posed by the Iran and Syrian regimes," and renewed his support for the eventual creation of a Palestinian state living side by side at peace with Israel, Jones said.
Bush "reiterated his belief that the establishment of a peaceful and democratic Palestinian state was a goal that would benefit Israelis as well as Palestinians," said Jones.
