World oil prices mixed on OPEC report
font size

World crude oil prices ended mixed Friday, as OPEC downgraded its world oil demand growth forecast.

New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in October, rose 11 cents to close at 63.33 dollars per barrel.

In London, Brent North Sea crude for November delivery fell 21 cents to settle at 63.33 dollars per barrel.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said Friday that world oil demand forecast was downgraded to average 28. 1 million barrels per day, or 800,000 barrels per day less than the 2006 average, in part because non-OPEC supplies are rising.

"World oil demand growth in 2006 has been revised down by 0.1 million barrels per day (bpd) since the last MOMR (OPEC monthly report) to stand at 1.2 million bpd, as recent data shows weaker- than-expected demand in the first half of the year," said OPEC in its report for September on world oil markets.
