China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Wednesday extended respect for non-Communist people in various social sectors for their contribution in building a moderately prosperous society.
Jia made the remarks at a conference commending the outstanding people from non-Communist parties, federations of industry and commerce and personages without party affiliation, who have made efforts bolstering the economic, political, cultural and social progress in China.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that non-Communist personnel have made full use of their advantages to put forth constructive suggestions which provide importance reference to the government's decision-making process.
In the meantime, he urged them to correctly handle the relations involving the Communist Party of China and non-Communist parties, ethnic groups, religions, and overseas Chinese, further air social and civil voices, and support and participate in the nation's reform to build a sound environment for economic development.
He also called on them to study the newly-published Selected Works of Jiang Zemin and the speech make by Chinese President Hu Jintao on the study of the works.
