Islamic Jihad fires rockets from Gaza into Israel

The military wing of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) claimed on Thursday responsibility for firing two homemade rockets from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.

The al-Quds Brigades said in a statement that its militants fired two rockets at the southern Israeli town of Sderot.

"The rocket attack is in response to the ongoing Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank," the statement said.

Israeli sources confirmed that two rockets landed in the border city Thursday morning, but there was no casualty and damage.

In the past 24 hours, four Palestinians were killed in Israeli air and artillery strikes in northern and southern Gaza Strip. Israeli troops also stormed Rafah in southern Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, Israeli forces arrested six Palestinians in villages and towns, saying that they were involved in attacks against the army.
