Vietnam wants to strengthen its cooperative relations with Singapore, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said Monday while meeting with his visiting Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong.
Vietnam supports Singaporean enterprises to invest in such fields as energy, insurance and telecommunications in the country, Dung said, noting that the two sides should effectively implement cooperative projects like the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park.
The friendly cooperative relations between the two countries have been shown in many fields, especially economy and trade, he said. Vietnam has become one of Singapore's major partners on trade and investment cooperation in the Southeast Asia.
The two sides have established some bilateral cooperative mechanisms, including the initiative linking the two economies in the fields of finance, investment, trade and service, transport, posts and telecommunications, information technology, and education and training.
Lee Hsien Loong said the two governments should promote their cooperation on investment, and education and training. Singaporean enterprises will find many opportunities for business and cooperation in Vietnam, contributing to bringing greater prosperity for both countries and deepening their ties.
During his two-day visit to Vietnam starting from Monday, Lee Hsien Loong is expected to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of the park in Vietnam's southern Binh Duong province.
