Beijing transportation system to serve 130 mln passengers in weeklong vacation

Buses, cabs and the metro are expected to serve 130 million passengers in Beijing during the weeklong National Day Vacation, said the municipal traffic management bureau on Monday.

The volume will be about twice than usual.

As approximately two million travelers are to visit the capital city, the buses alone will carry 80 million passengers from Sept.30 to Oct. 7, said the bureau.

The peak of the bus transportation volume is expected to occur on Oct.1 with 10.63 million passengers.

An official with the bureau said as the Chinese traditional mid-autumn festival also falls in the weeklong vacation, the traveler flow in the city will keep high during the seven days.

The Beijing Bus Corporation promised to put additional 600 buses in operation in the rush week to help ease up the great pressures.
