Philippines wants RSM inclusion in int'l terror list
font size

The Philippine government wants the Rajah Solaiman Movement (RSM) to be included in the list of terrorist groups by the international community, a senior official said Thursday.

The RSM "could be considered the most dangerous group in the country now" because it has foreign funding, said Philippine Defense Undersecretary Ric Blancaflor in a briefing.

Blancaflor, director of the government's Anti-Terrorism Task Force, said the Philippines will request the United Nations and the United States to include the RSM in the international terror list, together with the Abu Sayyaf.

RSM is a group of radical Filipinos who converted from Christianity to Islam with alleged ties to Jema'ah Islamiyah (JI), the southeast Asian terror network and al Qaeda. The group is suspected to be behind several bombings in Metro Manila.
