Auxiliary Forces controlled by Interior Minister of Hamas-led government Said Siam were deployed on all junctions and crossroads of Gaza Strip Sunday morning to counter demonstrations of unpaid security members.
"An order of mobilization has been passed to the Auxiliary Forces to deploy on all main junctions in order to impose law and stop attacks against private and public properties," Islam Shahwan, spokesman of the Interior Ministry's forces told reporters.
The deployment came one day after security members took to the street with violent and chaotic actions to demand full salaries after seven months of irregular payments, which was considered by Hamas government as "insurgence."
The Auxiliary Forces would not tolerate with any security member if he opened fire "directly at us," Shahwan said.
On Saturday, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said that the minister had decided to stop security members' protests by force.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement criticized the Interior Minister Said Siam's decision as "hasty."
"As we assert demonstrators should not violate law, but on the other hand their right to protest should not be confiscated," Fatah spokesman Maher Meqddad told local radio Voice of Palestine.
The Auxiliary Forces were established under a decision by Siam in April with most of its troops were members of Hamas and allied groups.
