Two Iraqi soldiers killed in car bomb in western Baghdad

Two Iraqi soldiers were killed and four civilians were wounded when a car bomb went off near an Iraqi army patrol on Sunday, a well-informed police source said.

"A car bomb parking in the al-Rabie Street in Jami'a district detonated near a passing Iraqi army patrol, killing two soldiers and wounding four civilians," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast also damaged three civilian cars and several nearby shops and buildings, he added.

Separately, a car bomb went off before midday near a passing U. S. patrol close to the Nafaq al-Shurta area, prompting the U.S. troops to cordoned off the scene.

"We later learned from the Yarmouk hospital that they received a body of a civilian and four people wounded by the blast," the source said.

The blast also charred five civilian cars, he added.

However, the U.S. military had not confirmed the incident yet.

Violence rages on in Iraq as car bombings, roadside bombs and assassination cause dozens of civilian casualties daily.
