Fired German soccer coach hires security detailGerman soccer coach Burkhard Ziese fired by Malawi last week said he suspects some people want to physically assault him and damage his property, and therefore he has hired security detail, Nation Online of Malawi reported Saturday. In a letter wrote to him on September 29 the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) warned him to keep away from the stadium and national team when it is training or playing a match. The letter further warned him that he would be responsible for anything happening to him or any damage to his property. "Why would anyone want to ban me from watching a match? Do they want to send the same thugs that assaulted me at the Kamuzu Stadium?" queried Ziese. The German coach said he has hired a security detail of four officers who are guarding him and his property. The upfront coach, however, said he would defy the FAM warning and attend Saturday's Africa Nations Cup qualifier clash between Malawi and Zimbabwe, saying he wants to watch his boys beat Zimbabwe. The German, who is never short of controversy, was given the boots by FAM on September 27 following a recommendation one day before by the FAM Disciplinary Committee which found him guilty of serious breach of the agreement he signed with the association. Ziese is accused of insubordination and open defiance; lack of respect for authority; absconding duties without satisfactory reasons; fraud and corruption; lack of submission of match reports and use of abusive language to officials and players.
