Switzerland condemns DPRK nuclear test
font size

Switzerland on Monday condemned the nuclear test carried out by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), saying it is ready to support United Nations sanctions against Pyongyang.

In a strongly worded statement, the Swiss Foreign Ministry described the reported test as running "counter to international efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and a threat to the security of the region."

The DPRK nuclear test could lead to a regional arms race, the statement said.

It added Switzerland would cooperate with any decision by the UN Security Council to impose binding sanctions against DPRK.
