Indonesia to put graft convict fugitives on TV

The Indonesian Attorney General's Office (AGO) will begin airing identities of convicted corrupt businessmen and officials who remain at large on television Monday to seek helps from the public for their arrests.

"They will appear on a weekly basis, one convict per week. The program will show their photographs, identities and explanations of their cases," AGO spokesman I Wayan Pasek Suartha said at his office here.

The AGO has a list of 14 fugitives for the TV broadcasts.

But the government doesn't promise reward for any tip off that leads to their arrests, he said.

Attorney General Abdul Rahman Saleh said the broadcast would help authorities increase the chance to arrest the fugitives.

Jakarta-based TV station ANTV has agreed to help the AGO with free broadcast every Monday, Saleh was quoted by the country's leading news website Detikcom as saying.

He refused to publish the names of the fugitives before Monday.
