A visiting Palestinian official said here Saturday that internal dialogue among the Palestinians has produced positive outcome by reaching reconciliation toward a national unity government.
Farouk al-Qaddoumi, chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)'s political department, made the remarks after meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem, the official SANA news agency reported.
Qaddoumi said that Palestinian factions would held a meeting on the coalition government after Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting and atonement, stressing the importance of a continuous Arab support to the Palestinian cause.
Meanwhile, he criticized the U.S. and Europeans for their pressures on the Palestinians, saying that Israel exploited the situation to impose unjust siege that has destroyed the Palestinian economy.
Al-Muallem, for his part, said that Damascus encourages dialogue among Palestinian factions and backs a national unity government in the territories, SANA said.
Talks over forming a Palestinian coalition government aimed at lifting an international boycott on the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)-led government have stalled as the group has repeatedly refused to recognize Israel.
