Five people from one family shot dead in northern Iraq

Five people from one family killed on Sunday when gunmen stormed their house in Mosul, some 400 km south of Baghdad, a provincial police source told Xinhua.

"Unknown gunmen stormed into the house of a family in the al- Baker neighborhood in eastern Mosul early in the morning and opened fire, leaving three women and two men killed," said Brigadier Sa'id al-Jabouri, head of police media office of Nineveh province.

Police are investigating the incident to find out the motives behind the crime, the source said.

Violence rages in Iraq as sectarian killings, car bombings, roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
