Japanese carmaker Suzuki Motor Corp. has reported the export of minivan APV from its Indonesian factory already hit 10,000 units in the first nine months of the year to surpass full year sales of 9,318 units last year.
Suzuki's local partner PT Indomobil Niaga International claimed sales of 10,357 units in nine months to September, leading economic daily Bisnis Indonesia reported Tuesday.
Indomobil spokesman Priyo Kurnianto said increasing export sales are expected to offset the slump in domestic sales hurt by fuel price rises.
The main export destinations of the seven-seater APV include Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Yemen, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Peru, Chile, Honduras and Guatemala.
"As the APV is accepted in more and more countries, we are confident that we can achieve export target of 12,000 units this year," Priyo said.
