font size

The U.S. military said on Wednesday that four U.S. soldiers were killed in previous day when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in west of Baghdad.

"The soldiers assigned to Multi-National Division-Baghdad were killed at about 6:50 a.m. (0350 GMT) on Oct. 17 in west of Baghdad, " the military said in a statement.

The latest deaths brought the U.S. soldiers death toll in October to 61, which makes the month one of the deadliest for U.S. forces in Iraq.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.

About 2,770 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U. S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media tally.
