Chinese Premier meets U.S. Brookings Institution delegation

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday met with a delegation from the U.S. Brookings Institution.

During the meeting, Wen spoke highly of the institution's efforts in promoting the development of relations between China and the United States and in enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Wen briefed members of the delegation on China's political and economic development as well as the country's efforts in strengthening democracy and legal system.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was present at the meeting.

The Brookings Institution delegation is on a visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
