A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines Friday night, with the aftershock still being felt early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said (Phivolcs).

The quake initially struck at 10:30 p.m. with its epicenter located some 35 kilometers south of Boac, Marinduque.

The temblor was felt at intensity 4 in Manila City and Batangas City, 3 in Makati City and 2 in Quezon City.

The aftershock was also felt in Manila at 6:00 a.m.

The quake might have been caused by the movement of the tectonic plates near the Lubang Fault, Phivolcs said.

Earthquakes of this size could not generate a tsunami, the earthquake authority added. There were no immediate reports of fatalities or serious damage.
