Two car bombs wound six in Baghdad
font size

Two car bombs went off on Saturday in northern and southern Baghdad neighborhoods, wounding a total of six civilians, a police source said.

A car bombing near a popular market in the al-Qahira neighborhood wounded four civilians, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Separately, a car bomb parking near the al-Ashrah al- Mubbasharah Sunni mosque in Baghdad's southern al-Amil neighborhood, blew up before midday, wounding two civilians, the source added.

Earlier in the day, four people were killed and 15 others wounded when a suicide bomber wearing an explosive-belt blew himself up inside a minivan near the Sarrafiyah Bridge in Baghdad's Karkh area, on the west bank of the Tigris River, an Interior ministry source said.

It was not clear whether the suicide bomber was targeting the minivan itself or his explosive-belt went off prematurely, the source said.

The blast also damaged several passing civilian cars, he added.
