Bush says military solution not to end violence in Iraq
font size

U.S. President George W. Bush, at a press conference held on Wednesday, admitted that a military solution alone will not end the violence in Iraq.

"A military solution alone will not stop violence. In the end, the Iraqi people and their government will have to make the difficult decisions necessary to solve these problems," Bush said.

"So in addition to refining our military tactics to defeat the enemy, we're also working to help the Iraqi government achieve a political solution that brings together Shi'a and Sunnis and Kurds and other ethnic and religious groups," Bush said.

Bush made the remarks following mounting violence as well as U.S. casualties in Iraq. Over 90 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq this month, the highest since October last year.
