Germany, Japan urge DPRK to implement UN Security Council resolution
font size

Leaders of Germany and Japan called on Thursday the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to implement the 1718 resolution of the United Nations Security Council on the DPRK's nuclear program.

In a telephone conversation, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo discussed the DPRK's nuclear activities.

Merkel and Abe agreed that the resolution 1718 of the UN Security Council is "clear and must be now consistently converted. "

The resolution demands the DPRK not conduct any further nuclear test or launch of a ballistic missile. It also demands the country return to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and International Atomic Energy Agency.
