Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrived in Xiamen, a coastal city in Southeast China's Fujian province, on Friday, starting a five-day visit to China.
In a meeting with Arroyo, Lu Zhangong, secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, called on more investment from Philippine entrepreneurs so as to achieve common development.
Arroyo said Philippines and China have witnessed a long-term relationship. She hoped to further push ahead the friendly cooperation with Fujian province.
Besides Xiamen, the president will also head for Jinjiang of Fujian, Nanchang, capital city of Southeast Jiangxi Province, and Guilin, a tourist resort in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Arroyo is also to attend the China-ASEAN commemorative summit scheduled for Oct. 30-31 in Nanning, capital city of Guangxi.
