Gunmen wound bodyguard of Iraqi PM in Baghdad
font size

Unknown gunmen fired on an Iraqi Prime Minister government car on Sunday in southern Baghdad, wounding one of his bodyguards, a government spokesman said.

Nouri al-Maliki, the Prime Minister, was not in the car when the attack occurred in the southern Rasheed district, Ali al- Dabbagh told reporters.

In a separate incident, unknown gunmen opened fire on an Iraqi police patrol in the Waziriyah neighborhood, killing two policemen, a police source said.

Insurgents frequently attack government officials and Iraqi security forces, accusing them of collaborating with the U.S. occupation forces.
