Visiting top Chinese adviser Jia Qinglin met with Estonian Parliament President Toomas Varek on Sunday in Tallinn on ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said China and Estonia have far-ranging common interests, with firm political basis and broad public opinion for deepening relations between the two countries.

Varek agreed with Jia's views over bilateral ties, stressing that Estonia will continue to carry out the one-China policy.

During the meeting, the two leaders shared the views that China and Estonia are trustworthy friends and important partners for mutually-beneficial cooperation.

The two leaders expressed their willingness to consolidate mutually beneficial cooperation, saying the two countries can promote economic development on their mutually complementary advantages.

Jia and Varek also agreed that the two sides should continue to deepen political trust, promote business investment between the two countries, strengthen cooperation in economy, trade, energy resources, information, science and technology, enhance exchanges in culture, education and sports, and actively coordinate in international affairs.

Estonia is the third leg of Jia's four-nation European tour from Oct. 22 to Nov.3, which has taken him to Britain and Lithuania, and will also take him to Ukraine.
