Kuwait to dispatch biggest aid convoy to Lebanon

Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) said on Sunday it would dispatch its 29th aid convoy to Lebanon, the biggest ground shipment by the emirate since the beginning of a 34-day Israel-Hezbollah conflict.

Yousef al-Meraj, KRCS' Director of the Relief Committee, said the convoy consisted of 22 trucks carrying 440 tons of food supplies, tents and blankets for the needy families in Lebanon.

KRCS members would coordinate with their Lebanese counterpart to distribute the aid, al-Meraj added.

According to the KRCS official, since the eruption of the month- long Israel-Hezbollah conflict in southern Lebanon this July, the KRCS has operated 266 trucks and seven planes which carried, including this shipment, an estimated total of 5,444 tons of relief materials.
