Israeli troops kill two Hamas militants in Gaza Strip
font size

Two Hamas militants were killed and three others injured Tuesday morning as Israeli troops rolled into areas in southeastern Gaza Strip, medical and security sources said.

A spokesman for national security forces told reporters that more than 20 tanks and bulldozers, backed by Apache helicopters and drones, stormed the eastern part of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Yunis.

He said that Israeli troops rolled one km deep into Palestinian- controlled territories, and the tanks entered through the security fence separating the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Local residents said that Israeli bulldozers leveled fields and destroyed infrastructure, and Israeli soldiers took up positions on roofs and opened fire at every moving object.

Palestinian militants clashed with the Israeli forces.

The armed wing of Hamas, Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for firing four mortar shells at the site where the Israeli troops stationed.
