Palestinian sources close to Hamas movement said on Tuesday that a swap to exchange Palestinian prisoners for an Israeli soldier has been delaying because the captors fear Israel will not honor the swap't conditions.
Palestinian independent news agency Maan quoted the sources close to Hamas movement, which holds the soldier, as reporting that the Palestinian captors of the soldier trust the Egyptian mediators, but they don't trust the Israeli promises.
"The military wing of Hamas, the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) and the Islamic Army demand the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to be involved in the swap, but the Israeli rejection to the demand has boosted the Palestinian fears," said the sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Hamas, the Popular Resistance Committees and the Islamic Army, which kidnapped Gilad Shalit in a cross-border raid on June 25, demand that Israel release about 1,400 Palestinian prisoners, mostly children and women, in exchange for Shalit.
Israel currently holds up to 10,000 Palestinians in prisons.
According to Maan, the indirect talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians have succeeded to outline the final features of the swap that will meet the key demand of the captors who want the release of Palestinians in Israeli jails.
The report added that the Egyptian mediators have doubled their moves in a bid to achieve the deal in the coming two days.
