Ghazi Hamad, spokesman of the Hamas- led government, said on Tuesday that the movement would be the one which would name prime minister of any new government.
Hamad told reporters in Gaza that efforts on forming a national unity government "were going toward a breakthrough," adding that Hamas would name prime minister of the government.
A Hamas delegation has arrived in Cairo for talks with Egyptian officials on formation of a new government and release of abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
Hamad revealed that Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mesh'al will not join the delegation.
Hamad also decried an Israeli threat to expand its offensives on the Gaza Strip, saying the Israeli army appears to have "the green light to commit massacres, assassinations and house demolitions."
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Deputy Nasser al-Dein al-Sha' er denied Tuesday evening earlier reports that he would be nominated as the new prime minister of the new national unity government.
