Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said on Thursday that Pakistan and India must move forward to resolve conflicts.

The president was talking to Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht, who is currently in Pakistan on a two-day visit.

The president said he hoped that the forthcoming talks between Pakistan and India would demonstrate the spirit of Havana talks held between the president and Indian prime minister, a foreign ministry statement said.

Foreign secretaries of the two countries are scheduled to meet in New Delhi on November 14-15 to review the composite dialogue process.

With regard to relations with India, the president expressed the view that normalization of relations and resolution of all outstanding disputes was in the interest of both Pakistan and India as both would gain tremendously in various ways.

"However we need to move forward with sincere intentions," said Musharraf.

He said that the Confidence Building Measures had done well, but regrettably conflict resolution was stalled.
