Chinese, Tanzanian presidents applaud weather-proof partnership
font size

Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete in Beijing Friday, saying the two countries are weather-proof partners of cooperation.

The two countries always respect, understand and support each other, and China values the traditional friendship with Tanzania, willing to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields and coordination in international and regional affairs such as the UN reform, millennium development goal and hot issues in Africa, Hu said.

Tanzania will not forget China's long time assistance, and its people and government attach great importance to their relations with China, said Kikwete.

Tanzania spoke highly of China's important role in international and African affairs, and will continue to support each other in the international arena, he said.

Kikwete arrived here Friday afternoon for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation slated for Nov. 4-5.

In 2006, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Tanzania. As a destination country for Chinese tourists, bilateral trade reached 474 million U.S. dollars in 2005. China forged diplomatic ties with Tanzania on Nov. 26, 1964.
