One killed in car bomb in south of Baghdad
font size

A civilian was killed and three others injured Saturday in a car bomb blast in Mahmoudiyah town, 30 km south of Baghdad, a well-informed police source said.

"A car bomb went off near the post office of Mahmoudiyah town, killing one civilian and wounding three others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Separately, a roadside bomb went off near a passing U.S. patrol in the Nidhal Street in central Baghdad, the source said.

It was not clear whether there was any casualty as U.S. troops cordoned off the scene preventing Iraqi police from approaching the area, the source added.
