Two Russians killed in rocket barrage in southern Iraq
font size

Two Russian nationals were killed when rockets hit their electricity company site in Basra City early on Saturday, a source from Basra provincial police told Xinhua.

"The rocket attack was apparently targeted a British military base, but a rocket missed its target and hit the Russian company site," the source said on condition of anonymity.

However, the Russian Foreign Ministry denied the report, saying the two Russians were wounded and not killed in a rocket attack in the Iraqi city of Basra, according to reports from Moscow.

In a separate incident, Iraqi local police found two bodies for women who previously were kidnapped by an unknown militant group, the source said.
