Two people killed in car bomb in Baghdad

Two people were killed and five others wounded when a car bomb detonated near a police patrol in northern Baghdad on Saturday, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"A car bomb parking near Talbiya Bridge on the Army Canal went off near a passing police patrol," the source said on condition of anonymity.

Two civilians were killed in the blast and a police vehicle was damaged, leaving five people, including four policemen aboard the vehicle, wounded.

Separately, mortar rounds landed on a residential neighborhood in the Sabei al-Bur area in northern Baghdad, wounding five people, the source said.

Meanwhile, a roadside bomb went off near a U.S. patrol passing near the Shariqa Intersection in Baiyaa neighborhood in southern Baghdad," the source said.

There is no word on casualty in the incident as the U.S. patrol sealed off the scene preventing the Iraqi police from approaching the area, he added.

Earlier another U.S. patrol was hit by a roadside bomb in the Nidhal Street in central Baghdad, according to the Iraqi police.

The U.S. military did not confirm the two incidents.
