More than 150 experts, scholars and businessmen across the Taiwan Strait gathered in Beijing on Monday for a two-day law forum.
Though cross-Strait economic and trade relations have developed in recent years, obstacles remain in many aspects including the trade imbalance, non-direct flow of capital and goods, as well as difficult access for mainland businessmen to Taiwan, said Cai Cheng, director with the cross-Strait law exchange association.
On future development and major problems that arise in cross-Strait trade and investment, Cai said the forum can serve as a platform for people from both sides to exchange views and work out possible countermeasures to existing problems and difficulties.
Liao Cheng-hao, director of the Taiwan-based cross-Strait law exchange association, said closer economic and trade relations across the Strait depend on enhanced exchanges in law and the implementation of relevant policies, laws and regulations.
