China calls for peaceful solution to Israeli, Palestinian disputes
font size

China on Tuesday urged Palestine and Israel to exercise restraint in the wake of an Israeli military operation in Gaza which has resulted in the deaths of Palestinian civilians.

"China has always insisted that Palestine-Israel disputes should be solved through peaceful negotiations, and opposes any move which could escalate tension in the region," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu.

"China urges the parties concerned to exercise restraint and avoid worsening the situation," Jiang added.

A large-scale Israeli operation, dubbed "Autumn Clouds", began on Nov. 1 and has caused some 200 deaths and injuries.

"Israel launched military actions and caused deaths and injuries to Palestinian civilians. China expresses its deep concern and worry," Jiang said.
