A suicide bomber blew himself up in a coffee shop located in northern Baghdad late Tuesday, killing 17 people and wounding 20 others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
The blast occurred at about 9:30 p.m. (1830 GMT) in Greiart district in northern Baghdad, the anonymous source said, without giving further details.
In another attack, seven or eight mortar rounds rocked Azamiyah, a Sunni district in northern Baghdad, leaving 5 people killed and 20 injured, the source said.
The bloodshed came two days after the ousted president Saddam Hussein got death sentence, which unleashed the fear of a spasm of violence.
