Mexico's government on Wednesday lashed out at Israel for killing civilians in northern Gaza and called for the two sides of the conflict to show restraint.
Early on Wednesday, Israeli tanks bombarded a residential district in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun, killing at least 18 Palestinians, including eight children, and leaving several dozens injured.
In a statement, the Mexican government said that Mexico "recognizes Israel's right to defend itself but condemns the use of indiscriminate and disproportionate force."
Mexico also slammed the "continued launch of rockets by Palestinian militants, targeting Israeli territory," the statement added.
