He wanted to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world once again. Ok, time to get out and breathe a little easier. Time to enjoy life without getting beaten on the head. Time to quit before being knocked out to a coma.

Holyfield might have lived in a land of utter delusion. In this land, he is the same guy that terminated Mike Tyson twice. In this land, it's been injuries, not age that deprived of his ring generalship.

After a two-year long adjustment, he came out with a shout: "I'm reborn!"

Sorry to say Evander, but there is something those still trying to cash in on you won't tell you: Fighters rarely get reborn.

Before knocking out the insurance salesman Jeremy Bates in the second round, you had lost your previous three. And your last loss had been so bad that your license was revoked for diminished skills and poor performance.

Maybe a fighter could get reborn, but not at the age of 44, not after getting hit on the head steadily for 36 years, not Evander Holyfield.

It's true that George Foreman at the age of 45 did capture a heavyweight title. But he's so big and possessed such a natural gift that you never had. Besides, he's so lucky to have faced such a herd of journeymen who would pose no threat to him.

I respect your courage, I respect your willpower. But simply don't stick with your fantasy of ruling the heavyweight with four titles. That's even a formidable task for a fighter half your age.

Maybe you won't be crushed by too many punches like Muhammad Ali. Maybe you won't end up in a wheelchair in your later years like Joe Louis. But you will be beaten up trying.
