Beijing reports energy consumption for third quarter

Energy consumption per every 10,000 yuan of GDP has fallen, according to reports from the Beijing Bureau of Statistics.

Beijing consumed the energy equivalent of 43.148 million tons of coal in the third quarter, 4.5 percent more than in the same period last year. According to comparable prices in 2005, for every 10,000 yuan of GDP, the equivalent of 0.78 tons of coal was used, down by 6.9 percent from last year.

The amount of water consumed was 2.42 billion cubic meters, down by 7.1 percent from the same period of last year. For every 10,000 yuan of GDP, 44 cubic meters of water was used, down by 17.3 percent from the same period of last year.
