Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed on Friday that his country would continue its disputed nuclear program despite mounting Western sanction threat, the state media reported.

"We will press on with our nuclear activities, with support of the God and the strong nation, and our enemy can do nothing (to this)," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.

Ahmadinejad's remarks came as the United States is seeking to impose sanctions on Iran through the UN Security Council on the grounds that Tehran is developing a nuclear-weapons program under the garb of a civilian-use program.

"They are afraid of Iran's progress and are trying to make obstacles on Iran's path to get development," Ahmadinejad denounced, adding "they say they are worried Iran may make an atomic weapon, but this is a deceit."

Iran's top officials have reiterated that the country would never give up the enrichment work, warning the West not to take crucial measures on Iran or may face relevant aftermath.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said Wednesday that his country would continue the "glorious path" of its nuclear program.

Meanwhile, Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani said Friday in Moscow that Tehran would "reconsider" its cooperation policy with UN atomic agency if UN Security Council imposes sanctions.
