Japan offered over one million U.S. dollars in grant aid to Cambodia managing the database of land dispute under the National Authority for Land Dispute Resolution (NALDR) and constructing a meeting hall for the Ministry of Justice, said a press release issued by the Japanese Embassy here Friday.

Among the aid, 615,000 U.S. dollars would go for the installation of information management system at NALDR, while 515, 782 U.S. dollars for the construction of an annex building of the Ministry of Justice, it said.

The offer was made according to the request from the Cambodian government, it added.

Meanwhile, Chum Bun Rong, deputy secretary general of NALDR told Xinhua by phone that NALDR currently had 1,577 land dispute cases in hand, with some 100 such cases solved and 26 prisoners jailed for land conflicts released so far this year.

An updated database would help upgrade the authority's efficiency, he added.
