The Zimbabwe-German Society will host the inaugural International Youth Film Festival in Harare on Nov. 24, a local newspaper reported on Saturday.
The festival revolves around issues that affect teenagers and young adults the world over, according to The Herald.
Stephanie Barschborf, the official organizers and sponsors of the International Youth Festival in Zimbabwe, expressed optimism that youths will benefit from watching the movies.
"After realizing that there is the Images on Women International Film Festival that represents women's issues, we felt that there was no film event catering for the needs of youths. We wanted to portray their lives through film and the result was this festival that portrays issues touching on the lives of teenagers and young adults the world over," the official said.
On the opening day, the Elite Cinema in Harare will present " Afterlife", a movie from the United Kingdom, paving way for eight other films that will be shown at the Zimbabwe-German Society and Alliance Francaise.
There will also be a satellite venue in Chitungwiza at Zengeza 1 High School where a number of international films will be shown between Nov. 27 and 28.
Stefanie said the festival is being co-ordinated in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Women's Film Festival and the Women Filmmakers of Zimbabwe.
