font size

A car bomb Tuesday went off near a gas station in central Tikrit, some 170 km north of Baghdad, wounding five people, a source from the U.S. and Iraqi liaison office told Xinhua.

A car parking near a gas station in central Tikrit detonated near a passing police patrol, wounding a policeman and four civilians nearby, said the source with the Joint Coordination Center of Salahudin province.

The blast damaged several civilian cars which were lining up near the gas station, the source added.

Violence rages in Iraq as sectarian killings, car bombings, roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
