Vietnam, Laos to strengthen bilateral cooperationVietnam and Laos agreed to beef up their bilateral cooperation, especially on legislation, economy, culture, and science and technology, their top legislators said Tuesday. During their talks on Tuesday, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and his visiting Lao counterpart Thongsing Thammavong reached consensus on deepening and broadening bilateral cooperation between the two legislatures as well as fostering their coordination in regional and international forums. They agreed to intensify exchanging visits, sharing experiences about law construction, and enhancing information dissemination about the Vietnam-Laos relations for the future of each country and their stable relation development. The two sides also agreed to accelerate the implementation of bilateral agreements on such spheres as economy, culture, science and technology and border. Trong said the visit, the first overseas trip by Thongsing Thammavong as a Lao top legislator, will contribute to consolidating and promoting the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general and the ties between the two assemblies in particular.
