Toyota, Daihatsu to launch second co-designed model in Indonesia
font size

Japanese car makers Toyota and Daihatsu will collaborate again to launch a new sport utility vehicle (SUV) model in Indonesia, following the success of the co- manufactured model of Xenia and Avanza, the company said Thursday.

"The compact SUV will be named Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios, " local branches PT Toyota Astra Motor and PT Astra Daihatsu Motor said in a statement.

The new model will be manufactured by Daihatsu assembly plants but sold in all dealerships of the two companies.

"The collaboration project between Toyota and Daihatsu aims to fill market demand for a compact SUV in Indonesia," it said.

The two companies said they were confident to follow the success of seven-seater multipurpose vehicle (MPV) Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia, which have been sold 200,000 units since the launch in 2003.
