U.S. denies reports on Cheney's Baghdad tour
font size

The United States on Thursday denied earlier media reports that U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Baghdad on a surprise visit to celebrate Thanksgiving holiday with US troops, said reports reaching here from Washington.

The latest reports quoted Megan McGinn, a Cheney spokeswoman, as saying that the vice president is not in Iraq.

Cheney is planning on going to Saudi Arabia Friday as it was announced on Wednesday, added the spokeswoman.

Earlier on Thursday, the state-run Iraqiya TV channel and some other foreign media reported that Cheney arrived in Baghdad Thursday on a surprise visit, adding the visit was to celebrate the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday with American troops.
